AFFTA Extends FedEx and Yellow Freight Savings to Association Members
September 30, 2002

KELSO, WA (September 30, 2002) -- Earlier this month, the American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA) announced a terrific new benefit for all their members. Effective immediately, AFFTA members will have the opportunity to significantly reduce their FedEx and Yellow Freight costs. By partnering with the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), AFFTA will utilize the same shipping discounts OIA has been offering their members for years.

OIA introduced a FedEx shipping program to their members over ten years ago, with savings up to 49 percent off retail pricing. OIA is one of only five associations that enjoy this unique savings plan. By utilizing the program set up by OIA, AFFTA members will save money on their shipping costs -- one of the largest expense line items for most manufacturing companies.

"This program has already worked to our benefit, AFFTA signed 50 new members at the recent Fly Fishing Retailer World Trade Expo, largely in response to the new freight benefits," said K. C. Walsh, Vice President/Chairman of the Board for AFFTA and President of Simms.

To enroll in the FedEx Express and FedEx Ground programs, AFFTA members will complete a short enrollment form, including their existing FedEx account number. After confirming with AFFTA that membership is current, OIA will process the enrollment forms directly with FedEx and notify AFFTA members when the discount is in place. Members will begin to see savings within two weeks of enrollment.

"This program is just one more great advantage to being an AFFTA member. The OIA has had this program in place for years and we've heard nothing but glowing testimonials on how companies have saved money on their shipping costs," commented Mark Vidovich, AFFTA's President.

The American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA) is based in Kelso, Washington and represents over 400 fly-fishing manufacturers, sales representatives, retailers, outfitters and specialty media. AFFTA exclusively endorses the industry's largest fly-fishing trade show, the FLY-FISHING RETAILER World Trade Expo, recently held in Denver, Colorado on September 12-14.
